It's been about two weeks, but I'm only now feeling okay saying this out in the enormously public realm of the internet: I was laid off.
It's sad. I really enjoyed my work, and I was learning so much. But I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, so I'm determined to turn this into a positive experience.
While I attempt to figure out what's next for me, I'm doing some freelance work. I have a few clients and I'm happy to run their social channels. I enjoy having my own schedule and working wherever I want (which, to be honest, has only been as diverse as "bedroom" and "living room", but I hope to diversify to such amazing locales as "Whole Foods" and "Starbucks").
This is a draft of my new 'calling card', with thanks to my husband
I'm also enjoying my relatively new role as a member of the Digital District content team. It's an organization that works "to educate our peers, foster increased creativity and encourage participation in the digital sphere." We host happy hours, webinars, live chats and generally have a lot of fun.
So, what's the next step for me? I'm not sure yet. I'll keep you posted.
And in the meantime, if you want someone to help you with your social media, want to share some info on the BEST JOB EVER, or just want to say "hi", drop me a line.
